Warren Morgan faces calls to resign.

Calls are growing for the Leader of Brighton and Hove’s Labour council to resign, after he accused an ex-Labour Party member of making anti-Semitism remarks at a fringe event at this year’s Labour Party conference.

Hitting back, anti-racist and anti-fascist Tony Greenstein, has issued a press release in which he says Warren Morgan should resign and inferred he’s a liar, he said, “Warren Morgan is completely unfit to be Labour leader in Brighton and Hove. He has no regard for the truth.”

Greenstein, who co-founded the Brighton & Hove Anti-fascist Committee and was Secretary of the Brighton and Hove Anti-Nazi League, accused Morgan of employing a McCarthyist style technique of guilt-by-association, to manufacture false anti-Semitism allegations against the Labour leadership, Greenstein is clearly angry that Morgan has named him in connection with Holocaust denial; he complains, “even if someone had mentioned Holocaust denial at the meeting in question, why does that make me guilty?”

Greenstein continues, “This is not about Holocaust denial but defending the Israeli State. How else do you defend barbaric practices such as gaoling and shackling Palestinian children as young as 12 or the demolition of Palestinian villages in order to build Jewish towns and settlements, other than by accusing Zionism’s opponents of anti-Semitism? Israel today is a racist and repressive state, which is attacking even Israeli human rights organisations such as Btselem.”

This isn’t the first time Morgan has been accused of causing mischief and division within the Labour party. As Greenstein points out, “last year Warren Morgan alleged that there was spitting at the Labour Party AGM in Brighton. It was totally untrue but it achieved its purpose, the suspension of Brighton & Hove Labour Party and the annulment of the elections.”

Pompous Rant

With Morgan’s comments going viral, and reported by the national press including the Sun, Telegraph and Guardian newspapers, he’s been forced to justify his comments by writing on his blog, “Anti-Semitism is racism. The Labour Party is an anti-racist Party. Brighton and Hove is a city where all should feel safe and secure. These are things which should not be in question.”

Set to continue, Morgan faces the real and present danger of being ousted as Brighton and Hove’s party leader.

Let this be a lesson for any and every political leader that false accusations can cost you your career!

Warren Morgan, Leader of Brighton and Hove Council threatens to bankrupt Brighton.

Heroic leader of Brighton and Hove’s Labour party, Warren Morgan, has threatened to ban the Labour Party from holding their political conference in Brighton ever again.

Celebrating the largest Labour conference in history with almost 1,200 delegates and 13,000 visitors coming to Brighton, Morgan is posed to deprive his city of millions of pounds in revenue to their hotels, restaurants, pubs, clubs, shops and prostitution businesses, by writing to the General Secretary of the Labour Party, Iain McNicol, demanding, “I will need reassurances that there will be no repeat of the behaviour and actions we have seen this week before any further bookings from the Party are taken.”

While his city’s streets are littered with homeless sleepers and beggars occupying every shop doorway, raising money for their next heroin fix; the Labour leader is standing up for the interests of his Jewish constituents by high-lighting the alleged anti-Semitism which he claims is prevalent on the conference floor and at the cities many fringe meetings.

He said, “I am however very concerned at the antisemitism being aired publicly in fringe meetings and on the floor of Conference. We have a significant Jewish community in Brighton and Hove, and I met with them only last week to discuss the antisemitism already on our streets, causing them fear and alarm.”

Citing the suspension of the prominent activist Labour Party member Tony Greenstein, who suggested at a fringe meeting that Holocaust denial should be allowed, he said, “I have to make the strongest possible representation on behalf of the residents of the city who are Jewish. We are a City of Sanctuary and I have to speak up against any form of racism as and when it is given a platform in the city.”

Denying the freedom of speech which this country holds so dear, Morgan has publicly and firmly stood up for Jewish community in Brighton, in a way no other councillor has ever done before.

Only time will tell whether Morgan receives the reassurances he’s demanded, and only time will tell, if Brighton ever sees the national Labour party return to its shores again.

I for one would advise Morgan to shut up and have faith in Jeremy Corbyn that anti-Semitism is being dealt within the party, and that if anyone wishes to argue the case that the Holocaust never happened, as it’s reported to have happened in our history books, be allowed to voice their concerns, and be free to debate what really happened during the darkest period in Humanity’s history.

I sometimes wonder what the Jewish community have got to worry about. Just as a growing movement of thinkers believe the world is flat; there is a growing community of thinkers who believe Hitler was a British agent and that Holocaust was a smoke and mirrors campaign to bring about the creation of a Jewish homeland in Palestine.

If as they contend, their beliefs are so outrageous that they are ridiculous, let the idiots think what they want, within their rights of Freedom of Belief, Expression and Speech.

Could this be nothing more than a collaboration between Morgan and Jewish community, to counter-act the re-insertion of Labour’s support for the Palestinian cause into the National Policy Forum’s report?

Either-way, Morgan should be careful what he says; nobody in Brighton wants their business lost to Blackpool, Manchester, Birmingham or Bournemouth…
